His Timing, Not Mine

From my experience being in my early twenties, it’s tough to know what you truly want to be. After college, the range of opportunities are endless…which is great, but also extremely overwhelming. It’s hard to know if what you’ve chosen is the path that God has intended for you.
This uncertainty can be scary. Like many others, I want my career to align with my passions, but that doesn’t always happen right out of college. It’s easy to spiral into doubt—questioning if you chose the right major, entered the right field of work…all the things. But here’s the catch: it’s not up to you. I’ve learned that when you feel this way, you have to pause and seek guidance from the Lord. Instead of asking, “Am I doing this right?” I’m working on seeing the bigger picture: What does God want me to do? What is His purpose for me in this world? How can I reflect His love through my daily life?
It’s been a little over six months since I graduated college, and I still struggle with these questions daily. People say, “You have time, don’t worry,” but I’ve realized it’s not just about me—it’s about trusting in God’s plan. I’m still figuring it out, and that’s okay. Through prayer and reflection, I’m learning to overcome the doubt and anxiety that come with not knowing what’s next.
If you’re struggling with similar feelings, I encourage you to talk to the Lord. Let go of the worry, as sitting in this worry won’t help (trust me). Reflect on Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you,” and Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
These verses remind us that God is guiding us, even when we don’t see the full picture. I might not know what’s next, but I do know that I have our loving God to talk to, and I have my amazing family and friends to confide in, and for this, I am SO GRATEFUL. Just remember, it’s okay to not have everything figured out—trust in His timing, and know that you might not know what’s next, but in time, His path for you will be known.
