One of the first books in the Bible that I read was Isaiah. I was facing spiritual battles with anxiety, guilt, and overall just wanting a better lifestyle. I turned to my Bible, struggling with fear, and I turned to Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not for I am with you, Be not dismayed for I am Your God; I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." This verse was the answer to all my problems; "Fear not, for I am with you". At the time, I was desperate for anything to just calm me down, but I was never seeking the Word of God. I was pushing him a side thinking that all my problems and fears will just vanish.
Isaiah 5:2-4, "What more could have been done to My vineyard That I have not done in it? Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, Did it bring forth wild grapes?" We may be thinking, "why am I not receiving the credit or success that I've been expecting?" "Why is everything going down hill in my life?" How do we expect to produce a good, stable vineyard when we're not even planting our hearts and our time in the right things?
Instead of expecting good things to come our way, we should be seeking growth in our relationship with God. Once we turn to God, our expectations and goals shift to God's timing and not our own. Our fears are driven into the ground, our mindset is on track, and our hearts are guarded with peace and love.
